After spawning, the carp seem intent on putting back all the weight they lost, and have gone on the munch big time, giving our anglers from Liverpool, Kidlington and Sussex a phenomenal week, with a quote by the Liverpool lads that it was the best fishing they had ever had - it was pretty amazing guys. A couple of nights fishing by our own Bazza also produced a good one. Weather cooler which helped immensely, with still some very warm days, but good amount of rain too. Excellent conditions. 37 carp caught totalling 1,443 lbs, with an average of weight of 39lb....- 54lb caught by Graham Dunn, 53lb 8oz caught by Paul Bailey, 50lb 8oz caught by Paul Holden, 50lb 3oz again by Paul Holden...... 48lb 6oz yet again by Paul Holden, 46lb 1oz Paul Holden again, 46lb caught by our own Bazza Reah, 45lb 15oz and Paul Holden again, 45lb 8oz again by Paul Bailey, 45lb 6oz by Paul Holden yet again, 43lb 6oz yet again by Paul Bailey, 43lb 6oz another by Paul Bailey, 41lb 6oz caught by Tony Mallan, 41lb 5oz again by Paul Holden, 41lb and again by Tony Mallan, 40lb 11oz Common by Tony Mallan, 40lb 10oz yet again by Paul Holden, 40lb 10oz yet again by Paul Bailey, 40lb 1oz yet again by Tony Mallan, 40lb again by Graham Dunn....- Also - 39lb 13oz, 39lb 1oz, 39lb x 2, 38lb 14oz Silver Common, 37lb 11oz, 37lb 6oz, 35lb 5oz, 35lb, 33lb....- And - 28lb 8oz, 27lb, 25lb, 24lb 14oz, 23lb 8oz Common... 2 of our very regulars guys brought with them 2 new anglers from Essex this week, and it was an ace week considering the high pressure and sweltering heat. Obviously gotten over their spawn but showing some weight loss, especially noticeable on Matey, who came out this week at 66lb. We know they will soon put it all back on again, and more. A few more smaller “stockies” again showing up, but our guys didn't mind a couple of these amongst all the giants. Another great week with 23 carp caught totalling 856 lbs, with a lower average weight this week beause of the stockies of 38lb.... - 66lb caught by Mark Wilson, 52lb caught by Ian Harrison, 47lb again by Ian Harrison, 46lb 14oz caught by Barry Gibb, 45lb 2oz caught by Jack Gibb, 44lb 14oz again by Ian Harrison, And another 44lb 14oz by Ian Harrison, 44lb 13oz again by Jack Gibb, 44lb 12oz yet again by Ian Harrison, 43lb 12oz yet again by Jack Gibb, 41lb 11oz and again by Mark Wilson, 41lb 8oz and yet again by Mark Wilson..... - Also - 38lb 15oz, 38lb 4oz, 36lb 4oz, 32lb11oz, 32lb....- And - 29lb 14oz, 28lb 11oz, 25lb, 24lb, 23lb, 21lb 8oz.

We had our regular guys from Hampshire and Birmingham, and new guy from Manchester fishing this week. A great week, although a little spawning still taking place. Quite cool to start the week, but gradually warming up to stifling on Thursday and Friday causing fishing to become slow, but not before our guys had pulled out five 50's and twelve 40's - fantastic. Great to see all the 40+ commons coming out now - amazing guys considering still some spawning. 25 carp caught totalling 1,178 lbs, with an unbelievable average weight of 47lb...... 55lb 11oz caught by Eric Chan-Pensley, 54lb caught by Martin Smith, 52lb 9oz again caught by Eric Chan-Pensley, 52lb again caught by Martin Smith, 51lb 15oz caught by Stuart Hobkirk....- 49lb again by Martin Smith, 48lb 10oz yet again by Eric Chan-Pensley, 48lb 4oz and again by Eric Chan-Pensley, 45lb 9oz again by Eric Chan-Pensley, 44lb 12oz and yet again by Eric Chan-Pensley, 44lb 8oz again by Stuart Hobkirk, 44lb 2oz another by Eric Chan-Pensley, 44lb Common yet again by Martin Smith, 41lb 2oz yet another by Eric Chan-Pensley, 41lb Common another by Martin Smith, 40lb 2oz Common another by Stuart Hobkirk, 40lb 4oz caught by Will McDonald.....- Also - 39lb 12oz, 37lb 7oz, 36lb 8oz, 34lb 3oz, 34lb, 32lb 9oz...- And - 27lb 9oz, and another from the stock pond 19lb.

A slow week again for our guys from Lancashire and Hertfordshire. Some hot days and cold nights with little rain. A couple of stockies put into the main lake from the stock pond recently, also came out. We think that the carp have been through a mild spawn of sorts in the main lake, but not really too much evidence showing. It has already picked up again, so hopefully it is over. 19 Carp caught totalling 747lbs, with an average weight of 40lb.....- 52lb caught by Mark Lewis...- 48lb caught by Chris Walmsley, 47lb 5oz again by Mark Lewis, 45lb again by Chris Walmsley, 43lb 6oz Common yet again by Mark Lewis, 43lb 6oz caught by Ben Pittock, 42lb yet again by Chris Walmsley, 40lb again by Ben Pittock, 40lb caught by Pete Southworth, 40lb yet again by Pete Southworth... Cracking week for our guys from the Isle of Wight and West Sussex, with the record Carp weight caught so far at 74lb. Congratulations to Liam Davis, although it was a hand me down from his dad who, having caught most of the fish up to then, decided to let his son have the nex take -.nice gesture by dad, but boy did he wish he hadn't - giving away the catch of a lifetime. Anyway, Liam went on to catch plenty of other big lumps as well, having 3 on the bank at the same time. Weather was warmer with some rain here and there. Spawning is really taking hold in the stock pond, so will probably follow onto the main lake if temperatures persist. 18 carp caught totalling 775.13lbs, with a great average weight again of 43.6lb. 4 lost. 74lb caught by Liam Davis (and Dad)....- 52lb again by Liam Davis......- 48lb yet again by Liam Davis, 47lb 10oz caught by Martin Cave, 47lb 3oz and again by Liam Davis, 44lb 10oz again by Martin Cave, 44lb 2oz caught by Andy Byfield, 42lb 2oz yet again by Martin Cave, 42lb caught by Pete Cambray, 41lb 7oz again by Liam Davis, 41lb 3oz and again by Liam Davis, 40lb 12oz yet again by Liam Davis, 40lb 3oz again by Martin Cave, 40lb Common and again by Martin Cave... Another really hard week for our guys from Wiltshire. Weather improved and we had some really hot sunny days. Some lakes here are already in full spawn mode, and we have noticed several of our carp have started milking. There are discussions going on some of the Fishing Forums as to why they think that the carp are spawning so early, when the experts believe that the temperature has to reach 18c. There could be lots of different triggers ie volume of water after lots of rain, unsettled weather, higher surface temperature, the moon - no one knows for certain, and probably never will - the Carp are a law unto themselves. The guys still did really well though with two 50's and eight 40's - really big lumps coming out. 12 Carp totalling 527.9 lbs, with an absolutely mega average weight of 44lb....- 57lb caught by Lee Beavan, 56lb again by Lee Beavan, 49lb 2oz caught by Josh Scaife, 45lb 5oz caught by Mark Billing, 44lb 12oz again by Lee Beavan, 44lb yet again by Lee Beavan, 43lb 4oz and again by Lee Beavan, Another 43lb 4oz by Lee Beavan, 42lb 4oz again by Josh Scaife, 41lb 4oz another one by Lee Beavan.... Not fit for dogs this week, rain, rain, and more rain, with strong winds to boot - far too much cold water going into the lake, and the carp switched off completely as though it was Winter. So our lads from Lancashire and Staffordshire had a real battle on their hands, and unfortunately 2 guys blanked. We were moaning about the drought last year, so we really shouldn't complain, but I felt so sorry for the guys sitting in their bivvies all week under these exceptional conditions. Our lake is not an easy water at the best of times, but at the end of the day anglers come here to catch big fish, not lots of small ones. So if you look at it that way, it was a pretty good week with the fantastic lumps that came out. We have heard that there is spawning already on some lakes despite the heavy rain. This is exceptionally early, as the water usually has to be a constant 16-18 degrees for a number of days for that to happen, mostly not until the end of May, so it just goes to show, you never can tell with fishing. 10 Carp caught totalling 407.13 lbs with an average of 41lb. 51lb 2oz caught by James McFarlane, 50lb 2oz caught by Danny Eccles, 48lb 8oz again by Danny Eccles, 48lb 1oz yet again by Danny Eccles, 40lb 5oz caught by Roger McDowell... Also...- 39lb 4oz, 37lb 7oz, 36lb, 32lb... And a lonesome...- 25lb.

We welcomed anglers from Surrey, Farnborough and Milton Keynes this week, and it started off fabulously with a 66lb'er and two new 50's. Then it was hard going with 35 mile per hour gusts of wind, and reaching a frosty minus 5 degrees overnight. That, with intermittent torrential rain yet again, and the odd sunny interval, made the fishing tail off towards the end of the week as the water temperature got colder. The guys still achieved outstanding catches yet again. 27 carp caught totalling 1,093 lb's, with an average weight of 41lb (another fantastic average). 3 or 4 lost......- 66lb 12oz caught by Cory Billingham, 52lb 15oz also by Cory Billingham, 52lb 8oz again by Cory Billingham, 49lb caught by Phil Jordan, 47lb 10oz caught by Paul Bolton, 45lb 9oz caught by Mick Taylor, 45lb 5oz again by Paul Bolton, 44lb 1oz again by Cory Billingham, 43lb 8oz yet again by Cory Billingham, 43lb again by Phil Jordan, 42lb 12oz caught by Neil Green, 42lb 10oz again by Paul Bolton, 41lb 8oz yet again by Phil Jordan, 40lb 5oz yet again by Paul Bolton, 40lb 5oz again by Neil Green.....- Also... 38lb 2oz, 38lb, 37lb 13oz, 36lb 1oz, 36lb, 35lb 10oz, 33lb 9oz, 32lb, 30lb 8oz -... What a truly awe inspiring week for our guys from Nottingham, they really showed how it is done with our best week ever at Lac Les Pins. The first night produced the new lake record of 69lb 8oz, along with a stunning 42lb common and three other 40's. The same angler Paul Stones, who caught the record then went on to catch a 63lb 8oz, and then a 50lb'er - unbelievable. The guys did not stop catching all week, with Nigel Beresford catching a staggering twelve 40's and a 68lb 5oz. Then another great catch of 61lb 11oz to young lad Connor Thrower - what phenomenal catches. Weather turning chillier with plenty of rain and intermittent sunny spells, then rain again, obviously the perfect weather for a carp's eating pattern. Well done to all you guys, you have now set the tone, and we hope this continues for the rest of the Season. 45 Carp caught weighing 1,817.13 lb's, with an average weight of 41lb - outstanding......- 69lb 8oz caught by Paul Stones, 68lb 5oz caught by Nigel Beresford, 63lb 8oz again by Paul Stones, 61lb 11oz caught by Connor Thrower, 50lb 1oz again by Paul Stones, 49lb 2oz caught by Nigel Beresford, 48lb 4oz caught by Connor Thrower, 46lb 1oz again by Nigel Beresford, 45lb 12oz again by Nigel Beresford, 45lb 10oz again by Nigel Beresford, 45lb 2oz again by Nigel Beresford, 43lb 8oz caught by Paul Stones, 43lb 7oz again by Nigel Beresford, 43lb 7oz another by Nigel Beresford, 43lb 4oz again by Connor Thrower, 43lb 3oz again by Nigel Beresford, 43lb 2oz again by Nigel Beresford, 42lb 11oz again by Nigel Beresford, 42lb 3oz again by Paul Stones, 42lb Common caught by Karl Greenfield, 42lb again by Karl Greenfield, 41lb 10oz again by Karl Greenfield, 41lb 8oz again by Paul Stones, 41lb 4oz again by Paul Stones, 40lb 8oz again by Connor Thrower, 40lb 1oz again by nigel Beresford, 40lb Common caught by Neil Greenfield, 40lb again by Nigel Beresford.....- Also... 38lb 13oz, 38lb 7oz, 38lb x 2, 35lb, 33lb 11oz, 33lb 8oz, 33lb 2oz, 33lb 3oz x 2, 33lb, 30lb...- And... 28lb, 25lb, 23lb, 21lb 12oz, 21lb 3oz.

Mixed groups from Liverpool, Shropshire and Lincolnshire visited for the first week of our Fishing Season, and what a fantastic week it turned out to be for them, with nine 40's being netted - most of them new ones. Fishing started very slow at first due to very warm weather and high pressure. This cooled down markedly by Wednesday, with overnight temperatures dropping to 2 degrees. This is when the carp really started feeding, and produced the brilliant fish that all our guys can be proud of...- 22 Carp caught with a few lost. -... 48lb 8oz caught by Steve Green, 47lb 8oz caught by Mick Bailey, 43lb 8oz caught by John Trushell, 43lb 4oz also by John Trushell, 42lb 2oz caught by Gary Godfrey, 41lb 4oz yet again by John Trushell, 40lb 4oz again by Mick Bailey, 40lb again by Gary Godfrey, 40lb caught by GED Hargreaves........- Also.. 39lb 4oz x 2, 38lb 8oz, 38lb, 37lb 5oz common, 36lb, 35lb, 34lb 12oz, 33lb 10oz, 33lb 8oz, 32lb 10oz.... END OF SEASON REPORT 2011 Well the end of another Season and it has been much more challenging for our guys than we thought possible for this year, due to the worst drought in France for 100 years. Even the best anglers struggled, but this only showed in slightly less productivity overall. The reason for this is that the water temperature reached its maximum for spawning in early May, causing 2 spawns in 3 weeks. The Carp could not fully recover due to the exceptionally high pressure and no wind. Rain and wind encourage fish to feed by stirring the waters, creating extra oxygen and stimulating the fish into activity so that they will burn off energy and they will then need to replace this by eating more. We also had a record number of lost fish this year with hook pulls unfortunately due to bad angling - ie not playing the fish, just trying to pull them in. Hot sunny days with no rainfall make the fish lethargic and docile, and they don't move about very much, and this means that they do not burn off energy, and as well as that, the conditions caused a huge explosion of natural food ie bloodworm in the lake. The Carp lost a lot of weight due to being in spawn mode for so long, and were extremely slow to pick up, but by the end of the Season, they did regain their weight or put on more. Without a doubt, the weather conditions totally influenced the catch rate and made fishing all the more harder. Even so, taking into consideration the conditions we were under, we still had a phenomenal year. With our lake being stream fed, at least we did not lose water like so many smaller lakes which rely on the rainfall - they must have found it incredibly difficult to cope with oxygen levels for their fish. Hopefully, there will be no drought next Season 2012, and we will be able to see our growth rate extend to many more 50's and 40's, and even maybe another couple of 60's. As we have said before, we feed our carp high energy pellet throughout the Winter months, which has always encouraged fantastic growth rates and overall fitness and wellbeing for our carp. They are always in superb condition. The largest Carp caught during 2011 was by Richard Shaw, weighing 66lb 4oz. The most productive weeks overall were 23rd - 30th April with Craig McEvoy's group yet again. They caught an amazing 47 Carp. 1-60's, 3-50's, 8-40's, 29-30's, 6-20's, with an average weight of 36lb. Also 30th April - 7th May with Lee Beavan's group. They caught another amazing 45 Carp. 1-60, 3-50's, 17-40's, 23-30's and 1-20, with an average weight of 44lb. Total Carp caught for 2011 was a little lower than last year at 583, but to be expected on conditions. Still a phenomenal year with yet again fantastic averages. Weights caught .6-60's, 15-50's, 155-40's, 319-30's, 88-20's With an average weight of 38lb. Chris, Baz and Colin would like to say heartfelt thanks, and best wishes for a great 2012 for all.

5 of our regular anglers from Leicester and 1 regular from Liverpool joined us on our last week of the Season, and it proved to be another excessively hard week for our guys, even though it cooled down at nights, it still got to an amazing 30+ degrees during the day. Still a good few lumps though produced at intervals between periods of nothing. The last night prevented two of our guys from blanking. This has been an exceptionally tough year altogether with the unending drought and high temperatures - more on that in my end of year report soon. 13 carp caught totalling 484.4lbs, with an average weight of 37.24lb....- 48lb caught by Jack Marsden, 45lb 10oz caught by Charlie Sandy, 44lb 8oz caught by Steve Marsden, 43lb 8oz caught by Lee Davis, 41lb again by Steve Marsden, 40lb by Steve Marsden yet again, 40lb caught by Gerrard Hargreaves....- Also - 39lb Common, 37lb 8oz, 36lb...- And - 26lb, 22lb x 2.

4 lads from Surrey this week - 2 regular, and two friends new to the lake. Weather got even hotter throughout the week, and the carp stayed in the Med with plenty basking and sunbathing, and not bothering to eat a lot - mostly feeding during the night. Consequently, one angler caught most of the carp and 1 lad unfortunately blanked - sorry Phil, but they will be back next year cos they know they have the chance of a “big one”. 12 carp caught totalling 428lbs, with an average weight of 36lb. 50lb 11oz caught by Craig Shackleford... - 45lb caught by James Kirton-Vaughan, 44lb x 2 caught again by Craig Shackleford, 41lb yet again by Craig Shackleford, 41lb 9oz yet again by Craig Shackleford...- Also - 38lb, 37lb, 35lb 8oz, 35lb 2oz, 33lb 11oz, And - 23lb

A mixed bunch of 6 anglers this week, 3 regulars and 3 new. They were from Lincoln, Sussex, Wales and Essex. Nice to see quite a few commons coming out. Our anglers banked 8 - 40's, 17 - 30's and no 20's. It was a hard but very productive week. The carp seemed to switch off again early in the week straight after last week's great catches. All but one angler achieved his 40, but he still had late 30's which is not to be sniffed at. The weather warmed up again with some rain later on - now getting quite cold at night. And how absolutely F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C - 12 - 40's and 2 - 50's. They had a great week last year, but not compared to this. These guys started catching from the start, and all had their PB's on the first night. They caught well every day until Thursday and Friday when it slowed down as temperatures went up again. They were such great guys and had a good laugh with Baz, who also fished 3 nights because there was space. He was over the moon with his own personal best of 54lb 9oz. A mixed week weatherwise with quite a bit of rain and sunshine, much colder at night. We had 5 of our regular anglers from Buckinghamshire fishing this week. It was blisteringly, unbearably hot to start the week, so not much happening as expected, only a few fish banked. Then on Wednesday night, a much welcomed thunderstorm with rain most of the night cooling everything down and producing 7 catches, with another 7 catches again the following night. Staying cooler for the rest of the week caused the carp to carry on feeding well, producing the rest of the catches. It ended up a very good week with 28 carp caught and 10 lost, so it could have been even more productive. Total weight 949lb's, with an average of 34lb... 48lb 15oz caught by Ray Davis, 43lb caught by Ray Hearn, 41lb 15oz caught by Matt Loverage, 41lb 2oz caught by Gary Fiddler, 40lb 12oz again by Ray Davis, 40lb 1oz again by Matt Loverage... - Also - 39lb 10oz, 39lb 3oz, 39lb 1oz, 38lb 7oz, 37lb 7oz, 37lb 5oz, 36lb 9oz, 36lb 1oz, 33lb 8oz, 32lb 4oz, 32lb 2oz, 31lb 13oz, 31lb 8oz, 31lb 7oz, 31lb... We had 5 new new guys from Liverpool, and another old favourite, Ron Chillery from Nottinghamshire at the lake this week - he was absolutely over the moon to catch his first 50 lb'er - well done to you Ron. Another blazingly hot week with 1 overnight thunderstorm not cooling us down at all, so fishing remained quiet. Therefore extremely hard week again for the guys, but some good fish landed - they are not to be deterred and will be back next year with hopefully no drought conditions to contend with. 17 carp caught totalling 630lbs with an average of 37lb....- 55lb caught by Ron Chillery, 46lb 12oz caught by Danny Whinnett, 45lb caught by Karl F Warnecke, 43lb 6oz again by Danny Whinnett, 42lb 3oz caught by Alan Williams, 40lb 8oz again by Ron Chillery... - Also - 38lb 8oz, 36lb 8oz, 35lb x 2, 34lb 8oz, 33lb 15oz Common, 33lb 4oz... 3 anglers from Norfolk and our old mate Martin Smith from Birmingham fished the lake this week, and what a fabulous week it was they caught an amazing 11 - 40's and 21 - 30's. Everyone was more than happy with their catches, plenty of fish cruising and sunbathing, but most importantly eating after so long. The week started with a little rain, hotting up later with obviously cooler nights now. Brilliant week guys - that's what we like to see. 35 Carp caught totalling 1,230.12 lbs, with an average weight of 35.14lbs. 5 Lost....- 45lb 2oz caught by Stuart Beale, 44lb 8oz caught by Vince Bloom, 44lb 12oz again by Vince Bloom, 43lb 12oz caught by Dan Shipp, 42lb 10oz again b y Dan Shipp, 42lb 2oz again by Vince Bloom, 42lb again by Dan Shipp, 41lb again by Vince Bloom, 41lb again by Stuart Beale, 40lb caught by Martin Smith, 40lb again by Stuart Beale...- Also - 39lb 12oz, 38lb 12oz, 38lb 2oz, 38lb x 2, 37lb 6oz, 37lb 5oz, 37lb 3oz, 36lb 10oz, 36lb 7oz, 36lb 2oz, 36lb, 35lb 8oz, 34lb 8oz x 2, 33lb 6oz, 33lb, 32lb 2oz, 32lb, 31lb 7oz, 31lb 4oz... - And - 29lb 6oz, 23lb, 22lb.

6 mixed anglers visited us this week - Steve McCarthy on his second trip this year from Liverpool, father and young son from York, one new angler from Shropshire (who had a very productive week), and two regulars from Lincolnshire. Very hot when they arrived, and I know we have been moaning so much about no rain, well we were hit by the storm from hell after soaring humidity. It did not last that long, but wind and torrential rain brought a few trees down, and almost disintegrated one of the bivvies. It certainly cooled things down a bit, and a few carp caught overnight after this. A bit cooler for a couple of days after that, but predicted to be hotting up again. 22 carp caught totalling 824.14 lbs with a great average of 37.46 lb, but around 13 fish lost - this could have been a much more productive week, but even so fantastic catches. 60lb caught by Steve McCarthy... - 51lb caught by Kellen Ward.... - 46lb 8oz caught by Steve Green, 44lb 8oz again by Steve Green, 42lb 12oz and yet again by Steve Green, 40lb caught by John Trushell...... - Also... 39lb 1oz, 38lb 12oz, 38lb 9oz, 38lb 4oz, 38lb, 37lb, 36lb 2oz, 36lb Common, 33lb x 2, 32lb, 32lb Common, 31lb.... Hallelujah - it looks like the large carp may be on the munch again, and not before time, with a 60lb'er 50lb'er and 5 - 40's coming out this week, including a cracking brace. The 50 and 60 have both lost around 7lb's in weight, and the 40's, a few lb's, so it just goes to show that they have not been feeding since the spawn. Another really hard week though for our 4 regular guys from Norfolk, and 1 new angler from Wiltshire. This week, Graham stayed another week, and we had 4 of our regular anglers from Surrey who have been coming here since we opened - they have caught some blinding carp in the past, one of them, Paul Bolton caught the largest fish in 2008 with a 55lb'er. This time it was not to be, the continuing hot weather and ongoing drought took its toll once again, and we are now praying for rain. Lack of oxygen is making the carp lethargic, the larger fish going for deeper, cooler water. The hot weather is forecast for another two weeks, then we hope that we can get back to normal. 15 carp caught totalling 545lb, with an average of 36.33lb. 5 lost.... 41lb 4oz caught by Graham Dunn.... We welcomed 3 of our regular anglers from East Sussex, also good old Graham Dunn back again, and we knew it was going to be an extremely hard week for them with the drought continuing. Droughts change the dynamics in a lake and can cause a sudden abundance in natural food. April and May have surpassed in both heat and dryness, the drought of 1974, and aid has had to be given to stricken farmers with water being taken from some of the large Public lakes in the area. We have never known it like this. Our guys still enjoyed their week with us, and got up to a few pranks with Colin, including getting him down to photograph their amazing new species(which was an extremely large inflatable specimen of fish). 12 carp caught totalling 418lb, with an average of 35lb.... - 45lb caught by Mark Rose, 41lb caught by Andy Martin....- And - 36lb 12oz, 33lb 12oz, 32lb, 30lb 4oz, 30lb common... This week, we had 5 anglers from Norfolk - 2 of our regular guys and 3 new. They had a great time, but again it was a very, very hard week for them. The carp seem to be taking a long time recovering from their spawn but it did seem to be a particularly hard one. Considering this Spring has been the hottest and driest in 100 years, with a drought declared in most departments, it is no wonder that this is having an effect on the fishing. It has become slightly cooler with some rain, although not enough yet to reduce water temperature, and rain does encourage the carp to start feeding, so we hope that things will improve from now on. 19 carp caught totalling 721lb with an average weight of 38lb. 3 lost...... 43lb 15oz caught by Simon Feilden, 43lb 8oz again by Simon Feilden, 41lb 2oz yet again by Simon Feilden....- Also - 39lb, 38lb 15oz, 38lb 6oz, 38lb 2oz, 38lb, 37lb 12oz, 37lb, 36lb 4oz, 36lb 2oz, 34lb 12oz, 34lb 8oz, 34lb, 33lb 4oz, 30lb.... This week, 2 of our regulars from Cheshire, and 4 new anglers from Worcester visited us. It was a slightly better week size wise, and although the week started well, a couple of our anglers did not get another bite all week after that. Weather could not make up its mind and went from brilliant sunshine to storm and rain to pretty chilly, especially at night. From experience of other years, when the weather is so changeable, this affects the carp's eating habits. 25 carp caught totalling 1152lb's with an average weight of 46lb. 46lb 2oz caught by Chris Fellows, 44lb 2oz caught by Chris Pryce, 42lb 3oz caught by John Morgan, 42lb 1oz caught by John Dixon... Two of our regular couples with their families from Essex at the lake this week. Fishing was exceptionally hard after spawning last week and into the beginning of this week. The large carp seem to be taking a well earned rest after two spawnings in 3 weeks, it has really taken it out of them, and no form of encouragement brought them to the net. Most lakes in this area have had the same experience we hear, and even though cooler with some rain and a nippy wind earlier in the week, they just could not be moved. These guys have always had fantastic catches over the years they have been visiting us, but conditions this time were against them. Not to detract from the stunning specimens that were caught, they did catch 19 carp, totalling 663lb, with an average of 35lb. 6 of our regular anglers on the lake this week, 2 from Lincolnshire, and 4 from Liverpool. It turned out to be a bit of a nightmare with extreme heat causing spawning once again. Catches started well with the first 60, but spawning started after the first couple of days and continued all the rest of the week. This is the second time in 3 weeks, and affected fishing dramatically making it a really difficult week. Two of our guys blanked unfortunately, which we hate to see, but we cannot predict the weather and water temperatures, but luckily this does not happen often at our lake. Still a good few weights caught though. 26 carp with 6 lost totalling 1,053lb's and averaging 41lb....- 2 - 60's, 1 - 50, 7 - 40's, 14 - 30's, 2 - 20's..... 62lb caught by Steve McCarthy, 60lb 10oz caught by Steve Holland, 52lb 5oz again by Steve McCarthy, 45lb caught by Ged Hargreaves, 43lb 2oz again by Ged Hargreaves, 41lb caught by Tony Holland, 40lb 11oz again by Steve McCarthy, 40lb 8oz caught by Steve Holland, 40lb 8oz again by Tony Holland, 40lb and again by Tony Holland....- Also - 39lb, 37lb 12oz, 37lb 8oz, 36lb 12oz, 36lb 8oz, 35lb 8oz, 35lb, 34lb 12oz, 34lb 4oz, 33lb 12oz, 32lb 8oz, 32lb, 31lb, 30lb 8oz... As mentioned before, spawning started last Wednesday, so we were rooting for our guys to score well, and the lake did not disappoint. I know I am posting this early as the week has only just begun, but I really must let you know that our 5 anglers from Wolverhampton have caught 11 carp in the first 24 hours - among them a lake record of 66lb 4oz, a 51lb 10oz and also 3 commons in their late 30's. Nothing under 30lb. Absolutely brilliant and still another 6 days to go -so watch this space................Well, I was not wrong to ask you to watch this space, and you are not going to be disappointed - what an amazing week with 47 carp caught to a total of 1693lbs, and another great average of 36.5lbs... 8 lost. Mostly cloudy with some sunny intervals and very cold at night. Threatening to storm a couple of days, but not really amounting to anything. Therefore in reality, it was only 2 days of fishing, but a great result, especially for Baz who caught a 41lb 8oz, 40lb 4oz, 38lb 14oz, 37lb 4oz, and a 35lb 10oz.... I am afraid he put Colin to shame this time, but he still caught a 37lb 14oz..... 2 lost, and catch weighing 231.37lbs.

Another fantastic week for two more anglers from Norfolk and one from Nottinghamshire. Ten 40's and twelve 30's - again nothing under 30lb... 22 carp caught with 7 lost, totalling 808.625lb, averaging 36.75lb. For this sized lake, the averages are phenomenal and the carp are feeding really well at the moment - not too hot and water temperatures keeping cool. Weather warm but from early on in the week, a very cold Northerly wind - OK for the guys in the Med swims as I'm sure it is quite a few degrees warmer over there. 46lb 14oz caught by Ron Chillery, along with a 44lb and a 41lb 5oz... 42lb caught by Stuart Beale along with a 40lb 8oz and two at 40lb's... 41lb 8oz caught by Vince Bloom, along with a 41lb 4oz, and a 41lb... Also...- 39lb 8oz, 39lb 6oz, 39lb 2oz, 38lb 14oz, 37lb 9oz, 37lb 2oz, 37lb, 32lb 6oz, 31lb 13oz, 31lb 4oz, 31lb 2oz, 30lb. Absolutely cracking, and each one achieving their personal best. A few lost, but no detraction from their amazing catches.

Our Opening week 2011 started with rain and wind and the first 40lb'er coming out overnight. Then as forecast, it started to warm up dramatically over the coming week, causing it overall to be a pretty hard week for our 4 anglers from Norfolk. Having said that, they all had a 40lb'er, with young lad Craig's being a Personal Best. Nothing under 30lb, and six 40lb'ers means a great opening week with 817.30 lbs altogether. Around 8 carp lost - one by Paul Towler who thinks at least a 50lb Mirror. Great average weight yet again....47lb 4oz caught by Paul Towler, 44lb 4oz caught again by Paul Towler, 42lb by Paul Weaving, 42lb by Dave Weaving, 41lb by Craig Coleman, and 40lb again caught by Dave Weaving.... Also caught 39lb, 38lb 7oz, 38lb 4oz, 37lb, 36lb 4oz, 36lb, 35lb 8oz, 35lb 4oz x 2, 35lb 2oz, 35lb, 32lb 8oz, 32lb 6oz, 32lb, 30lb 8oz, 30lb.

END OF SEASON 2010 REPORT - - ... 2010 proved to be a fantastic season for Lac Les Pins.... The amount of large regularly caught carp has been phenomenal, and with their rate of growth, there will be even greater weight gain for next Season 2011.... Our anglers have been more than satisfied with their catches, returning sometimes 2 and 3 times in the same Season, and booking sensibly for the following year in order to secure a space.... The weather as usual - varying, ranging from freezing - 50 degrees and sometimes changing so quickly, thus showing in our less productive weeks, just how much this affects the catches.... The best week of the year was 24th April - 1st May with Lee Beavan's group of 5 catching an amazing 9 - 20's, 39 - 30's 16 - 40's, 2 - 50's and 1 - 60.... The best Common was caught by Steve McCarthy on 13th May, and weighed 42lb 10oz.... The best Mirror was caught by Dave Rose on 22nd June and weighed 63lb..... The carp are being fed throughout the Winter with protein pellet to maintain health and growth - they are in superb condition.... There will be many more 50's and 40's next year, with a couple of 60's maybe.... No sitting around for us now, there is plenty more maintenance work going on in the lodge and grounds meanwhile, so do not think that we all have a 5 month holiday for one minute. We carry on working to make sure that everything is in tip top order for our anglers in the next Season.... As many of our anglers can vouch for, Bazza worked endlessly during the Season in blistering heat to finish the fish ladder, in order to conform to DDAF Legislation - this is to protect any travelling fish from the external waterway, (although we have never seen one yet) this is the Law. Now the lake is totally up to regulation standard (hopefully they will not invent another one)..... Our new website has proved to be a great asset, with the advantage of allowing us to update the weekly log, along with names, dates and weights on photos as they come in..... Chris, Baz and Colin at Lac Les Pins would like to wish all our friends and their families the best of the Season's Greetings, and we look forward to an even more brilliant 2011 Season, with superb catches to report.

Three anglers from the Isle of Wight came to the lake to finish our last week of the Season. They also came at the end of August with another 3 anglers, and had an amazing week with 40 carp including a 50. This week it has been very, very hard for them, obviously much colder but a few sunny intervals. Plenty of fish showing, but they did not seem very interested in eating. A couple lost and 6 carp banked. 40lb 5oz caught by Mark Eastman...... Also 38lb 15oz, 37lb, 33lb 4oz.... And 27lb 10oz, 22lb. They are back twice next year though, in May and August because they love it, and they know that the big carp are in there just waiting to be caught. Fishing, THATS THE NAME OF THE GAME.

Our 6 New guys from Nottingham started the week off very well with some lovely warm days and a couple of very cold nights. They were doing ooh so well, then on Tuesday night and into the early hours of Wednesday morning, one of our fishermen started to feel very unwell, so it was all systems go to get the emergency services out to the lake. They were brilliant, but had to take our guy off to the hospital. He felt like his old self by the next day, but he had to stay in and have a few tests. Luckily, he was discharged just in time on Saturday morning for his flight home, thank goodness. He was in the best place possible at the time, but sadly missed most of his week's fishing, though still caught six all over 30lb with one 40lb to boot in the first 3 days. Take care Ron. Anyway carp that were banked totalled 866.71 lbs. 3 were lost....- 47lb 4oz caught by Barry Henson, 46lb caught by Bob Fletcher, 46lb 4oz caught by Dave Tizzard, 43lb 3oz caught by Ron Lockyer.... 6 new anglers to the lake this week, and great guys (and gal) they were. Had a great laugh with them, and they had a brilliant week, even Nikki who blanked until Friday night and then caught a lovely 36lb'er. But she had a great time - is one of the lads, and had great fishing knowledge. She is coming back next year determined to get the "big one". Weather was hot during the day, with a few very cold nights, but this kept lake temperature at a great level for the fishing. Five of our regular anglers on the lake this week, all top fishermen and a great bunch where you can have a good banter. A bit of male chauvinism going on with Chris being the only woman on “Barby Nite”, but she can hold her own where that is concerned. They all had a fantastic week with the weather again up and down with sunshine, rain, sunshine, rain .. and a couple of very cold nights, but great fishing conditions, as it seems that now it has cooled down, they are all on the munch, and some. 32 carp caught with 5 lost - one being a big lump, probably around 45 - 50 - thats a shame. Carp totalling 1,131lb......- 47lb 12 oz caught by Phil (pops) Spendelow, 45lb caught by Richard Shaw, 44lb 8oz caught again by Richard Shaw, 40lb 4oz caught by Craig McEvoy, and the same fish 40lb 4oz (Afghan) caught again by Craig McEvoy..... 7 of our regular anglers (one just 12 and 2 ladies) visited the lake this week. After the slow performance of the last few weeks, and the fact that there was going to be no let up in the extremely hot weather conditions, we thought that it was going to be hard going again. But it is fishing, and you can never foretell anything. 20 carp in all with a 61b'er to boot, indicating that the carp must be on the munch again. The ladies faired extremely well catching 8 of the total...... Weight totalling 671lb.............. 61lb caught by our youngest angler Harry Gibbs - absolutely fantastic... 45lb 10oz caught by Dee Noyce 43lb 8oz again caught by Dee Noyce.. 42lb caught by Jack Gibbs.. 40lb once again caught by Jack Gibbs - So sorry for father Barry, who is greatly overshadowed by his sons, unfortunately never quite managing a 40 himself.
