An absolutely blinding week. Phil Spendelow and his dad stayed another week, and and are they glad they did. Over the two weeks, they caught 14 carp, and Phil had an an amazing personal average of 48lb, including 3 - 50's, and Pops also with a fantastic average of 45lb, including a 60. They were joined on the lake by another one of our regulars from Lincoln, and 3 new anglers from Cheshire. Nothing was caught under 32lb. Rotten weather, mostly rain with odd thunderstorms, and a lot of the carp being caught during the day for a change - giving Colin a few good night's sleep. 5 of our regular guys and 1 new angler from Notts, Oxon and Stoke visited us again this week, and what fantastic lumps they had from all swims. It was a little slow, with spawn noted in some of the Carp, but no major sign really, although I think the combination weather helped a lot. 7 PB's was great to see, and had a great laugh with the boys. 18 Carp caught totaling 790 lb's. 3 new guys from Suffolk visited us this week. Oh dear, so, so, slow - what a difference to a couple of weeks ago. Spawning probably starting with the weather getting much hotter, so minimal feeding going on. Not a huge production, but still a few good weights. 6 Carp caught totalling 238 lb's, with an average weight of 40lb. 47lb 12oz by Kevin Woolf, 44lb 4oz by Kevin Woolf, 44lb 3oz by Karl Woolf.....- Also - 38lb 2oz, 35lb 8oz...- And - 28lb 8oz.

Bit of a bonding session going on this week with 3 fathers and their sons from Essex making one of their regular visits to the lake. Fishing still a little difficult, but again good lumps coming out from all swims and producing some of the best carp in the lake, notably Battler now over 50 - (sorry Martin), Bracer and Cracker now over 40. Can not believe the weather has still not been fit for a barbecue, with it continuing to be cold and wet. These guys needed plenty of warm nourishment to keep them going. Still a very productive week with 18 carp caught totaling 677 lb's, and an average weight of 38lb - well done guys...- 51lb 6oz by Mitchell Noyce, 50lb 3oz by Dad Ian Noyce....- 48lb 10oz by Mitchell Noyce, 47lb by Ian Harrison, 44lb by Barry Gibbs, 43lb 11oz by Joseph Harrison, 43lb 4oz by Ian Noyce, 41lb 3oz by Joseph Harrison.....- Also - 39lb 1oz, 36lb, 35lb 13oz, 30lb 13oz, 30lb 7oz, 30lb 3oz....- And - 28lb 12oz, 27lb 13oz, 25lb Common, 24lb 5oz.

We welcomed new lads from Stoke, and regulars from Birmingham and Surrey this week. Weather terrible again all week - Where is the Sun??? A slower week than last, but catches regularly intermittent, with some good lumps again. Baz doing his usual stuff, having a laugh and promoting his slogan “no matter what, never give up”, which definitely worked for Dennis Friend who struggled all week, then on the Friday, he scooped Mackem at 52lb 10oz and topped it off with a 47lb 3oz, so he went home very happy and is back again in August for another shot. As normal Martin Smith showed us his skills yet again with some fantastic catches. Well done to a special fishing friend, and everyone this week. 23 carp totalling 888lb's with an average of 39lb....- 52lb 10oz by Dennis Friend, 51lb 5oz by Pete Latham......- 48lb 12oz by Martin Smith, 47lb 3oz by Dennis Friend, 46lb 9oz by Martin Smith, 46lb Common by Pete Latham, 44lb by Martin Smith, 41lb 13oz by Pete Need, 41lb 12oz by Martin Smith.....- Also - 39lb 2oz, 38lb 10oz, 38lb 8oz, 38lb, 36lb x 3, 35lb 5oz, 30lb 13oz, 30lb.....- Also - 29lb 6oz, 28lb 5oz, 27lb, 24lb 13oz.

Our Anglers this week were from Surrey, Hampshire, Cornwall and Ireland. What a cracking week for these boys with Martin Hemington and Pete (Chaser) Higman fighting it out for Top Dog. Baz did a couple of nights in the Med Swim after Pete moved into the Bay, and is he glad he did - fantastic Pete, but I think Martin just pipped him with 15 to 13 - amazing performance Martin - they are over the moon. Eric Chan-Pensley and Stuart Hobkirk had a much harder week, but Eric still produced three 40's, and Stuart a stunning Common. Michael O'Connor who travelled all the way from Ireland also found it hard, but again three 40's is still a great catch on our sized lake. Weather still very poor for this time of year, but a great laugh with the lads. 34 carp caught weighing 1,417.50 lbs, with a great average of 42lb.....- 67lb 8oz by Martin Hemington, 61lb 6oz by Pete Higman.... 51lb 5oz by Pete Higman, 51lb 4oz by Martin Hemington, 50lb 14oz by Martin Hemington..... 49lb 4oz by Pete Higman, 48lb 9oz by Eric Chan-Pensley, 48lb by Eric Chan-Pensley, 47lb 12oz by Michael O'Connor, 46lb 12oz by Martin Hemington, 45lb 12oz by Pete Higman, 44lb 6oz by Pete Higman, 43lb 12oz by Martin Hemington, 43lb by Martin Hemington, 42lb 5oz by Michael O'Connor, 42lb 5oz by Martin Hemington, 42lb by Martin Hemington, 41lb 12oz by Michael O'Connor, 40lb 15oz by Pete Higman, 40lb 2oz by Martin Hemington, 40lb by Eric Chan-Pensley....- Also - 39lb 12oz, 36lb 4oz, 35lb 15oz, 35lb 12oz x 2, 35lb 15oz Common, 35lb 5oz, 34lb 4oz, 32lb 4oz, 31lb 6oz...- And - 26lb 12oz, 25lb 12oz, 23lb 8oz.

It's been an absolutely brilliant and extremely successful week for our mixed bunch of regular guys this week from Liverpool, Oxon and Essex. Even with the fluctuation between sun, rain and a little cooler weather this week, the carp were munching well. A fantastic amount of large Commons coming out now in superb condition. The Bay and Quarry swims did their duty and produced the most, with the med coming close. The Dam could not supply this time, but hey, this is usually one of our most productive swims and Colin loves to fish here when he can. Just wait and see, next week, it will probably be the one most active. All swims change production each week, and this is all down to weather and water temperature. 38 Carp totalling 1,471 lb's and an average weight of 39 lb......- 65lb 8oz by Rich Lee.....- 55lb 3oz by Peter Lee, 52lb by Rich Lee......- 48lb 4oz by Rich Lee, 45lb 12oz by Mark Lewis, 45lb 8oz by Steve McCarthy, 45lb by Rich Lee, 44lb 12oz by Rich Lee, 44lb by Steve McCarthy, 43lb 12oz by Steve McCarthy, 43lb 1oz by Mark Lewis, 42lb 2oz Common by Steve McCarthy, 41lb 12oz by Ben Pittock, 41lb 8oz Common by Rich Lee, 41lb 3oz by Steve McCarthy, 40lb 11oz by Peter Lee, 40lb 10oz Common by Rich Lee....- Also - 39lb 4oz, 37lb 1oz, 36lb 15oz, 36lb, 34lb 14oz, 34lb 1oz x 2, 33lb 12oz, 33lb 11oz, 33lb, 32lb x 2, 31lb...- And - 28lb 13oz, 27lb, 25lb, 24lb 10oz, 23lb 10oz, 23lb 6oz, 23lb, 22lb 8oz.

We had our yearly guys from Wiltshire this week, and Colin's friend with his son from surrey. Another foul week weatherwise and a really slow start with catches from only 2 swims, but by Thursday all swims had produced as the rain ceased. Great lumps from the Quarry and Med swims this time. Great to see more commons making an appearance lately. 19 Carp totalling 757 lbs, with an average weight of 40lb.....- 60lb 4oz by Tony Sheen....- 45lb by Tony Sheen, 45lb by Tony Sheen, 43lb 12oz by Lee Beavan, 43lb 12oz by Josh Scaife, 42lb by Lee Beavan, 42lb by Jock Martin, 41lb 12oz by Tony Sheen, 40lb 3oz by Jock Martin....- Also - 39lb 10oz Common, 37lb, 36lb 4oz Common, 35lb 10oz Common, 34lb 8oz x 2, 34lb 4oz, 34lb, 33lb 11oz, 33lb 10oz.

Switch off - switch on, and the carp have definitely done that this week for our guys from Wiltshire. Very warm, but still a bit nippy at night, and rain towards the weekend. Ideal weather though, not too hot and not too cold. Carp were moving everywhere, and these were caught all over the lake. Had such a great laugh with these regular guys of ours - look forward to next year. Rich Leat had the best overall week with the highest weights. Steve Furness had three in the space of 50 minutes, two 48's within 2 minutes of each other. Fantastic week boys, with 29 catches totalling 1182 lbs - and another great average of 41lb. There were quite a few lost as well, so could have been amazing....- 64lb 7oz caught by Rich Leat....- 51lb 3oz again by Rich Leat....- 48lb 12oz by Steve Furness, 48lb 6oz by Rich Leat, 48lb 2oz by Steve Furness, 45lb 7oz by Ryan Furness, 45lb 4oz, by Ryan Furness, 44lb 7oz by Rich Leat, 44lb 3oz by Rich Leat, 43lb 10oz by Ryan Furness, 43lb 6oz by Ryan Furness, 42lb 4oz by Ryan Furness, 40lb 12 by Steve Furness, 40lb 12 by Steve Furness, 40lb 7oz by Steve Furness...- Also - 39lb 7oz, 39lb 4oz Common, 39lb, 38lb 12oz, 38lb 10oz, 36lb 7oz, 36lb 4oz, 35lb 10oz, 35lb 8oz, 34lb, 33lb 12oz, 30lb 10oz...- And - 27lb 3oz, 26lb 5oz

Guys visiting us this week were from Surrey and Lancashire. What a switch off. Can't remember such a hard week as this. They say it all depends on water temperature, but now I am not so sure. We expected a late spawning due to the awful Spring weather, but from 14 degrees to 30 degrees and then back to 14 degrees in 2 days, has not allowed the water temperature in a lake our size to warm up that much, but it looks like the carp went into spawn mode, as there has been some crashing about. Even a week ago when the two brothers were catching the most carp, one of the males was “milking”, and that was really cold. Having said that, it could have been a reasonable week if all the carp lost had been netted. Our own Baz did a couple of nights towards the end of the week, and had no sleep - not from catches, but from buzzers going off all night. Looks like they were just taking a little nibble, then they were off. On Thursday night, he and all the other anglers had 8 runs between them, so in all, around 12 carp lost this week. 11 carp caught totalling 417lb, with an average weight of 38 lb.....- 49lb 4oz caught by Russel Musgrove, 42lb caught by Pete Southworth, 41lb 7oz caught by Terry Walmsley, 41lb 6oz again by Pete Southworth, 40lb 6oz again by Terry Walmsley.....- Also - 39lb 5oz, 36lb 8oz, 35lb 6oz, 33lb 12oz, 33lb 10oz...- And - 23lb 7oz.

A Really slow week with horrendous weather, even though temperatures a little warmer. Thank goodness for the new cabins and the guys in those were really happy to escape the rain and be snug and dry. Two brothers from Surrey had a superb week with most of the catches, but our 2 anglers from Liverpool and 2 from Lancashire struggled until later in the week. Most lakes have struggled this week, some even becoming waterlogged, so 21 carp on the bank is a good week in these conditions. Well done guys. Total weight of 750 lbs, with an average of 36lb....- 50lb 14oz caught by Gary Burton....- 49lb 15oz caught by Dave Burton, 45lb 12oz again caught by Dave Burton, 44lb caught by Tony Mallen....- Also - 38lb 15oz, 38lb 11oz, 38lb 2oz, 37lb 13oz, 37lb 6oz, 37lb 2oz, 37lb, 36lb 7oz, 35lb Common, 34lb 13oz, 33lb 9oz, 30lb....- And - 28lb 7oz, 28lb 3oz, 26lb, 25lb 8oz, 24lb 15oz.

We welcomed guys from Oxon, Manchester and Liverpool this week. Great start with some good ones being caught the first night, then it slowed right down again due to the weather changing again. Carp were moving around, then went into deep water as the temperature dropped. Will MacDonald caught an amazing 5 over 40lb, and stole the show. We thought that was the end of the cold spell, but some really frosty nights. There is continued coldish weather until the middle of next week, then warming up thank goodness, and we hope to start seeing plenty of action everywhere. 14 Carp caught totalling 591lb, with a brilliant average weight again of 42lb. 2 Lost by a damaged hook and cut line, and a few more. Could have been a blinder of a week, but well done guys for some absolutely brilliant weights yet again....- 63lb 5oz caught by William Macdonald....- 59lb 13oz again by William Macdonald....- 48lb 6oz caught by Chris Fellows, 46lb 11oz yet again by William Macdonald, 45lb 7oz and yet again by William Macdonald, 40lb 4oz again caught by William Macdonald, 40lb 2oz Common again by Chris Fellows, 40lb Common caught by Terry Lines....- Also - 39lb 14oz, 38lb 12oz, 36lb 5oz, 34lb 1oz, 30lb 8oz...- And - 27lb 4oz. Welcome to the start of our Season 2013. We opened a little early this year due to demand with 4 lads from Surrey. Cold when they arrived but temperatures soaring to a very warm sunbathing level of 22 degrees, which was very welcome considering they had come from the freezing snows of England. Even though warm, this was not enough to get the water temperature up because it was still freezing cold at night, although most carp caught night time or early hours. Still some cracking weights for so early. 10 Carp caught with some lost - a massive one apparently according to Gary Mac. Total weight of 403.5 lbs with a great average weight of 41lb.....- 52lb caught by Ian Richardson....- 49lb 10oz again caught by Ian Richardson, 48lb 19oz caught yet again by Ian Richardson, 41lb caught by Rob Turner.....- Also - 39lb 4oz, 38lb 4oz, 37lb, 34lb, 33lb 9oz, 31lb.

END OF SEASON 2012 REPORT- -... Another fabulous year at Lac Les Pins with superb weights being caught and the averages continuing to rise. For a lake of 12 acres, these are brilliant.... It was fantastic to see Matey come out at 74lb, caught by one of our youngest anglers, Liam Davis. Although all carp lost a lot of weight over the very long hot Summer, it was good to see Colin catch Matey again in November, weighing 68lb, proving that they were beginning to put it all back on.... The amount of 50's and 60's caught have doubled since 2011, and the reason for more 20's is the fact that we have now reintroduced some 20's from the stock pond into the main lake for further growth. There were 50 less 30's caught and 50 more 40's, so if it goes on at this rate, our anglers could be catching more 50's than 40's.... The last 3 years results show how far the carp have come on.... 2010 93 - 20's, 409 - 30's, 126 - 40's, 16 - 50's, 6 - 60's. Average 36lb.... 2011 .88 - 20's, 319 - 30's, 155 - 40's, 15 - 50's, 6 - 60's. Average 38lb.... 2012 .112 - 20's, 237 - 30's, 208 - 40's, 30 - 50's, 11 - 60's, 1 - 70. Average 39lb. Average still up even with all the extra 20's.... It seems that our lads from Nottingham have it sussed. Two different groups, one who came from 7th - 14th April produced the best weights. 45 Carp with an average of 41lb. 4 - 60's, 1 - 50, 23 - 40's, 12 - 30's and 5 - 20's.... Another group from Nottingham who visited on 25th August - 1st September, produced the most Carp. 56 Carp with an average of 34lb 1 - 60, 1 - 50, 12 - 40's, 29 - 30's and 13 - 20's.... 5 anglers from the Isle of Wight from 8th - 15th September also had a great haul of 50 Carp .... Well done to all these guys..... We have had various ages and dialects over the past year, and what a great bunch they have all been. Mostly, we have a great laugh and understanding with them, so things run very smoothly. We do have the odd little outbursts of frustration sometimes, but this usually corrects itself with the first big catch. As we have always said, this is NOT a runs water, sometimes it can be extremely difficult, and you can wait 2 or 3 days, but when you do catch, it is well worth the wait, and at least you are not being kept up all night with the “ babies”.... ONGOING - - - ... It is very mild at the moment, and the carp have been feeding extremely well on our protein pellet. They have been enjoying the weather, and jumping around a lot, so hopefully there will be another significant weight gain for the coming Season.... Barry continues to progress with his goal of achieving “Shangri La” - a paradise where every carp angler can come and enjoy the excellence of the services here, and the pleasure of netting a monster. We spend the Winter months maintaining the grounds, and reinvesting in further luxuries rather than necessities to make you the experience to remember, and that is why the majority of our anglers return again year after year, and have become firm friends.... Barry has already erected 2 double cabins on the Riviera and Med swims, and these will make it all the more comfortable and cosy for whoever has the fortune to be allocated one of these. This part of the lake has always received the worst of the weather as it is so open, so wind and rain can come at its worst, and if Barry has done his job properly, they will still be standing afterwards.... He is also now continuing to get on with the new Lodge. Electricity and plumbing is installed, and internal walls and ceilings have been plastered. Floor tiling is almost completed.... He will have to stop there for a little while as he has a knee operation at the end of January, but most of you know what a workaholic Baz is, so that will not stop him for long. He will then continue his project, as well as cutting down nuisance saplings, and then on to his never ending grass cutting stint over the Summer.... We will be off to England in February for your beloved English Sausages, Bacon and Baked Beans, and other supplies, whilst Colin is back to lake sit. Then it will be all hands to the deck once again to prepare for reopening. Not much time off for us I am afraid - not quite the idyllic existence that everyone thinks, but still a million miles away from the rat race of the UK.... We would urge everyone wanting particular dates, to please book as early in advance as possible, so as not to be disappointed. We do hate turning anyone away. A few spaces left for 2013, but now taking bookings for 2014.... We wish everyone a very happy and healthy 2013, and look forward to welcoming our returning and new anglers this year.... Bonne Peche

The last week of the Season continued to be an extremely hard week for our 2 regular guys -1 from Cornwall and 1 from Norfolk. Our own Bazza did a few nights to help out also, and caught a lovely 50. Rain to start the week, with some nice days and then the temperature dropped leading to an extremely cold Northerly wind and sharp frost. 10 carp caught totalling 410lb's, with an average of 41lb. Pete Higman from Cornwall stole the show with the majority of the catch - absolute stonkers....- 50lb 11oz caught by Bazza Reah.... 49lb 2oz caught by Pete Higman, 48lb 5oz again by Pete Higman, 44lb 12oz yet again by Pete Higman....- Also - 39lb 14oz, 39lb 5oz, 39lb Common, 38lb 5oz, 35lb....- And - 26lb. Work continues over the Winter months with the construction of two new cabins on the far side, so it is still an ongoing process to maintain and restructure our lake to make it even more comfortable and inviting for our anglers.

We had 2 new lads from Hampshire and our good old friends Graham and Martin at the lake this week. Another extremely hard week again, and the weather was abysmal. Temperature up and down, with rain, rain and a bit more rain for most of the week p****d our anglers off, but some nice big lumps came out at times to make them smile. Sorry about the weather guys - definitely something we can never predict. 18 carp caught totalling 663 lb's, with an average weight of 37lb. We welcomed 4 new anglers from Surrey this week, and poor guys, the carp just totally switched off, and they had the worst week ever at Lac Les Pins. It was a really miserable week with mostly rain, although not that cold during the day. We thought it would be good fishing weather, but who really knows the workings of a Carp's natural instincts. Just a few very intermittent catches during the week, and then they turned on the last night and morning, with fish fizzing in the margins, and the 2nd 40 of the week came out, this was after the rain stopped and there was a sharp frost overnight. Sorry guys - better luck next time, and thanks for all your fantastic comments overall. 5 new lads from Leicester graced our lake this week, and they were not disappointed. Not a huge amount of carp, but fantastic weights, each catching a 40, and reaching their PB's. Cooler weather to start the week, but still sunny and getting much warmer every day reaching 36 Degrees, so great fishing considering the heat. The much colder nights are helping to keep the lake at a decent temperature for feeding. Loads of fizzing on the markers. 23 Carp totalling 967 lb's, with an average of 42lb, and only 5 lost this week. 69lb 6oz caught by Andy Roe... 58lb again by Andy Roe.... 52lb caught by Gav Greenwood.... 51lb 12oz caught by Mark Bradford.... 48lb and again by Andy Roe, 44lb 13oz caught by Craig Hill, 44lb 11oz again by Mark Bradford, 43lb 11oz and again by Mark Bradford, 42lb 15oz once again by Andy Roe, 42lb 10oz again by Craig Hill, 41lb 10oz and once again by Andy Roe, 40lb 13oz again by Andy Roe, 40lb 1oz once again by Mark Bradford, 40lb caught by Gezz Greenwood...- Also - 38lb 2oz, 38lb, 35lb 4oz, 34lb 8oz, 33lb 14oz, 33lb 4oz, 32lb 4oz, 31lb...- And - 29lb 14oz.

We welcomed 5 of our regular guys from Nottingham - Rob, Baz, Uncle Mick, "Brut" Man Dave (who unfortunately got his Brut confiscated at French Customs - only 125 ml next time Dave), and 2 Rods Trevor. Also 1 new angler from Greater Manchester - Pete Smith - had a cracking week for his first visit and enjoyed being part of this gang. Finally, with the temperature dropping considerably especially overnight, the carp have started on the munch with gusto. They need to be putting back all that weight they have lost now ready for Winter, and it shouldn't take too long with the way they are gulping it down. A fantastic week for our guys - a lovely bunch and a great laugh was had all week. Their pics will be going in the Nottingham Post, as did the last Nottingham lads, who earlier in the year also had a blinding week. Hopefully, the catches will now continue, though getting a bit warmer again next week. 56 fish totalling 1,922 lb's, with an average weight of 34lb. 11 were lost. We welcomed back four of our very regular anglers from Liverpool, Birmingham and Nottinghamshire. With the temperature reaching 43 degrees, this was never going to be a great week fishwise as the lake was like a warm bath - unbearable heat at times - cooling down quite a few degrees towards the end of the week, but not enough to cool the lake substantially. The guys managed 22 carp and everyone lost fish - 11 in total, so it could have made a big difference. Catch totalling 900 lb's with an average weight of 43 lb (great average again). The guys did well though with still some really decent sized lumps considering - hopefully we have seen the end of the sizzling weather..... 44lb 2oz caught by Ron Chillery, 43lb 7oz caught by Martin Smith, 40lb 4oz again by Martin Smith, 40lb caught by Steve McCarthy, 40lb caught by Tony McCarthy....- Also - 38lb 8oz, 38lb 7oz, 37lb, 35lb, 34lb, 33lb Common, 33lb, 32lb, 31lb 9oz, 30lb 10oz...... We had 3 groups of 2 anglers to the lake this week from Manchester, Norfolk and all the way from Ireland. Slow at times with the temperatures gradually increasing over the week to a sizzling 45 degrees, but the guys managed a great catch of 32 carp totalling 1,057 lb's, losing around 10, and the average weight dropped to a low of 33lb (not this low since October 2010) - this is mainly because of the amount of 20's now being caught since we introduced them into the main lake from our Stock Pond..... 49lb 10oz caught by David Westman, 45lb 3oz caught by Gary Blake, 43lb caught by Dave Constable, 43lb again caught by Gary Blake, 42lb 5oz caught by Alan Smith, 42lb 4oz again caught by Alan Smith, 42lb 2oz Common again caught by David Westman, 41lb 2oz caught by Michael O'Connor, 40lb 1oz and again by David Westman, 40lb and again by Gary Blake...- Also - 38lb 11oz, 37lb 8oz, 37lb 3oz, 35lb 2oz, 34lb 8oz, 34lb 6oz, 33lb 8oz, 32lb 12oz, 32lb 6oz, 30lb 14oz, 30lb 2oz, 30lb 1oz, 30lb...- And - 29lb 2oz, 27lb 7oz, 26lb 10oz, 26lb 9oz, 24lb 8oz, 24lb 3oz, 22lb 8oz, 20lb 8oz, 20lb 1oz With a couple of small stockies. Five anglers from Wiltshire started the second half of our Season off to a good start. Slow to begin the week with temperatures getting hotter every day reaching 38 degrees, so fantastic catches in this weather. The carp have all lost quite a bit of weight since their last spawn at the end of June, and the fact that there has been no-one fishing the lake for all of July, although we have still been subsidising them with regular high protein pellet. Consequently all the high 20's 30's and 40's would normally have been 30's, 40's and 50's, and Matey's drop in weight was particularly noticeable. Now that they are on the munch again, they will soon gain their rightful weights and more as they did last year. 31 carp caught totalling 1,095 lbs, with an average weight of 35.32 lb. 10/12 fish were lost, so it could have been even better. 62lb 8oz caught by Steve Furness..... - 47lb 11oz caught by Terry Tsoulouhopoulos, 43lb 10oz again by Steve Furness, 43lb caught by Ryan Furness, 42lb 11oz again caught by Ryan Furness, 41lb 8oz caught yet again by Steve Furness, 40lb 11oz and yet again caught by Steve Furness...- Also - 39lb 11oz, 38lb, 37lb, 36lb 8oz, 36lb 4oz Common, 35lb 10oz, 34lb 6oz, 34lb 5oz x 2, 34lb 3oz, 33lb 6oz, 32lb 10oz, 32lb 8oz, 31lb Common, 30lb 1oz, 30lb.... The carp and ourselves are taking a well earned mid Season rest during July, so no catch reports will be posted. We will be entertaining some of our friends and relatives during this time, with perhaps a small spot of fishing to keep them active. Reports will resume for the second part of the season, starting after our first lot of anglers leave on the 11th August. Then it is full steam ahead with postings every week until the end of October. Enjoy your fishing wherever you may be.

We welcomed anglers from Norfolk, Stoke on Trent and Cornwall this week. Phil from Stoke was supposed to come with his son and they come every year, but right at the last minute, his son was taken ill and could not make it, which was a real shame. Our own Baz shared a couple of nights with him to keep him company. The guys really had a struggle, as unfortunately the carp started the beginning of their spawn again, and it looks like it is going to be a harder one than the last, with carp crashing around towards the end of the week. Some really hot days, but cold at night. Obviously gotten over their spawn but showing some weight loss, especially noticeable on Matey, who came out this week at 66lb. We know they will soon put it all back on again, and more. A few more smaller “stockies” again showing up, but our guys didn't mind a couple of these amongst all the giants. Cracking week for our guys from the Isle of Wight and West Sussex, with the record Carp weight caught so far at 74lb. Congratulations to Liam Davis, although it was a hand me down from his dad who, having caught most of the fish up to then, decided to let his son have the nex take -.nice gesture by dad, but boy did he wish he hadn't - giving away the catch of a lifetime. Anyway, Liam went on to catch plenty of other big lumps as well, having 3 on the bank at the same time. Weather was warmer with some rain here and there. Spawning is really taking hold in the stock pond, so will probably follow onto the main lake if temperatures persist. 18 carp caught totalling 775.13lbs, with a great average weight again of 43.6lb. 4 lost. 74lb caught by Liam Davis (and Dad)....- 52lb again by Liam Davis......- 48lb yet again by Liam Davis, 47lb 10oz caught by Martin Cave, 47lb 3oz and again by Liam Davis, 44lb 10oz again by Martin Cave, 44lb 2oz caught by Andy Byfield, 42lb 2oz yet again by Martin Cave, 42lb caught by Pete Cambray, 41lb 7oz again by Liam Davis, 41lb 3oz and again by Liam Davis, 40lb 12oz yet again by Liam Davis, 40lb 3oz again by Martin Cave, 40lb Common and again by Martin Cave... Another really hard week for our guys from Wiltshire. Weather improved and we had some really hot sunny days. Some lakes here are already in full spawn mode, and we have noticed several of our carp have started milking. There are discussions going on some of the Fishing Forums as to why they think that the carp are spawning so early, when the experts believe that the temperature has to reach 18c. There could be lots of different triggers ie volume of water after lots of rain, unsettled weather, higher surface temperature, the moon - no one knows for certain, and probably never will - the Carp are a law unto themselves. The guys still did really well though with two 50's and eight 40's - really big lumps coming out. 12 Carp totalling 527.9 lbs, with an absolutely mega average weight of 44lb....- 57lb caught by Lee Beavan, 56lb again by Lee Beavan, 49lb 2oz caught by Josh Scaife, 45lb 5oz caught by Mark Billing, 44lb 12oz again by Lee Beavan, 44lb yet again by Lee Beavan, 43lb 4oz and again by Lee Beavan, Another 43lb 4oz by Lee Beavan, 42lb 4oz again by Josh Scaife, 41lb 4oz another one by Lee Beavan.... Not fit for dogs this week, rain, rain, and more rain, with strong winds to boot - far too much cold water going into the lake, and the carp switched off completely as though it was Winter. So our lads from Lancashire and Staffordshire had a real battle on their hands, and unfortunately 2 guys blanked. We were moaning about the drought last year, so we really shouldn't complain, but I felt so sorry for the guys sitting in their bivvies all week under these exceptional conditions. Our lake is not an easy water at the best of times, but at the end of the day anglers come here to catch big fish, not lots of small ones. So if you look at it that way, it was a pretty good week with the fantastic lumps that came out. We have heard that there is spawning already on some lakes despite the heavy rain. This is exceptionally early, as the water usually has to be a constant 16-18 degrees for a number of days for that to happen, mostly not until the end of May, so it just goes to show, you never can tell with fishing. 10 Carp caught totalling 407.13 lbs with an average of 41lb. 51lb 2oz caught by James McFarlane, 50lb 2oz caught by Danny Eccles, 48lb 8oz again by Danny Eccles, 48lb 1oz yet again by Danny Eccles, 40lb 5oz caught by Roger McDowell... We welcomed anglers from Surrey, Farnborough and Milton Keynes this week, and it started off fabulously with a 66lb'er and two new 50's. Then it was hard going with 35 mile per hour gusts of wind, and reaching a frosty minus 5 degrees overnight. That, with intermittent torrential rain yet again, and the odd sunny interval, made the fishing tail off towards the end of the week as the water temperature got colder. The guys still achieved outstanding catches yet again. 27 carp caught totalling 1,093 lb's, with an average weight of 41lb (another fantastic average). 3 or 4 lost......- 66lb 12oz caught by Cory Billingham, 52lb 15oz also by Cory Billingham, 52lb 8oz again by Cory Billingham, 49lb caught by Phil Jordan, 47lb 10oz caught by Paul Bolton, 45lb 9oz caught by Mick Taylor, 45lb 5oz again by Paul Bolton, 44lb 1oz again by Cory Billingham, 43lb 8oz yet again by Cory Billingham, 43lb again by Phil Jordan, 42lb 12oz caught by Neil Green, 42lb 10oz again by Paul Bolton, 41lb 8oz yet again by Phil Jordan, 40lb 5oz yet again by Paul Bolton, 40lb 5oz again by Neil Green.....- Also... 38lb 2oz, 38lb, 37lb 13oz, 36lb 1oz, 36lb, 35lb 10oz, 33lb 9oz, 32lb, 30lb 8oz -... What a truly awe inspiring week for our guys from Nottingham, they really showed how it is done with our best week ever at Lac Les Pins. The first night produced the new lake record of 69lb 8oz, along with a stunning 42lb common and three other 40's. The same angler Paul Stones, who caught the record then went on to catch a 63lb 8oz, and then a 50lb'er - unbelievable. The guys did not stop catching all week, with Nigel Beresford catching a staggering twelve 40's and a 68lb 5oz. Then another great catch of 61lb 11oz to young lad Connor Thrower - what phenomenal catches. Weather turning chillier with plenty of rain and intermittent sunny spells, then rain again, obviously the perfect weather for a carp's eating pattern. Well done to all you guys, you have now set the tone, and we hope this continues for the rest of the Season. 45 Carp caught weighing 1,817.13 lb's, with an average weight of 41lb - outstanding......- 69lb 8oz caught by Paul Stones, 68lb 5oz caught by Nigel Beresford, 63lb 8oz again by Paul Stones, 61lb 11oz caught by Connor Thrower, 50lb 1oz again by Paul Stones, 49lb 2oz caught by Nigel Beresford, 48lb 4oz caught by Connor Thrower, 46lb 1oz again by Nigel Beresford, 45lb 12oz again by Nigel Beresford, 45lb 10oz again by Nigel Beresford, 45lb 2oz again by Nigel Beresford, 43lb 8oz caught by Paul Stones, 43lb 7oz again by Nigel Beresford, 43lb 7oz another by Nigel Beresford, 43lb 4oz again by Connor Thrower, 43lb 3oz again by Nigel Beresford, 43lb 2oz again by Nigel Beresford, 42lb 11oz again by Nigel Beresford, 42lb 3oz again by Paul Stones, 42lb Common caught by Karl Greenfield, 42lb again by Karl Greenfield, 41lb 10oz again by Karl Greenfield, 41lb 8oz again by Paul Stones, 41lb 4oz again by Paul Stones, 40lb 8oz again by Connor Thrower, 40lb 1oz again by nigel Beresford, 40lb Common caught by Neil Greenfield, 40lb again by Nigel Beresford.....- Also... 38lb 13oz, 38lb 7oz, 38lb x 2, 35lb, 33lb 11oz, 33lb 8oz, 33lb 2oz, 33lb 3oz x 2, 33lb, 30lb...- And... 28lb, 25lb, 23lb, 21lb 12oz, 21lb 3oz.

Mixed groups from Liverpool, Shropshire and Lincolnshire visited for the first week of our Fishing Season, and what a fantastic week it turned out to be for them, with nine 40's being netted - most of them new ones. Fishing started very slow at first due to very warm weather and high pressure. This cooled down markedly by Wednesday, with overnight temperatures dropping to 2 degrees. This is when the carp really started feeding, and produced the brilliant fish that all our guys can be proud of...- 22 Carp caught with a few lost. -... 48lb 8oz caught by Steve Green, 47lb 8oz caught by Mick Bailey, 43lb 8oz caught by John Trushell, 43lb 4oz also by John Trushell, 42lb 2oz caught by Gary Godfrey, 41lb 4oz yet again by John Trushell, 40lb 4oz again by Mick Bailey, 40lb again by Gary Godfrey, 40lb caught by GED Hargreaves........- Also.. 39lb 4oz x 2, 38lb 8oz, 38lb, 37lb 5oz common, 36lb, 35lb, 34lb 12oz, 33lb 10oz, 33lb 8oz, 32lb 10oz.... END OF SEASON REPORT 2011 Well the end of another Season and it has been much more challenging for our guys than we thought possible for this year, due to the worst drought in France for 100 years. Even the best anglers struggled, but this only showed in slightly less productivity overall. The reason for this is that the water temperature reached its maximum for spawning in early May, causing 2 spawns in 3 weeks. The Carp could not fully recover due to the exceptionally high pressure and no wind. Rain and wind encourage fish to feed by stirring the waters, creating extra oxygen and stimulating the fish into activity so that they will burn off energy and they will then need to replace this by eating more. We also had a record number of lost fish this year with hook pulls unfortunately due to bad angling - ie not playing the fish, just trying to pull them in. Hot sunny days with no rainfall make the fish lethargic and docile, and they don't move about very much, and this means that they do not burn off energy, and as well as that, the conditions caused a huge explosion of natural food ie bloodworm in the lake. The Carp lost a lot of weight due to being in spawn mode for so long, and were extremely slow to pick up, but by the end of the Season, they did regain their weight or put on more. Without a doubt, the weather conditions totally influenced the catch rate and made fishing all the more harder. Even so, taking into consideration the conditions we were under, we still had a phenomenal year. With our lake being stream fed, at least we did not lose water like so many smaller lakes which rely on the rainfall - they must have found it incredibly difficult to cope with oxygen levels for their fish. Hopefully, there will be no drought next Season 2012, and we will be able to see our growth rate extend to many more 50's and 40's, and even maybe another couple of 60's. As we have said before, we feed our carp high energy pellet throughout the Winter months, which has always encouraged fantastic growth rates and overall fitness and wellbeing for our carp. They are always in superb condition. The largest Carp caught during 2011 was by Richard Shaw, weighing 66lb 4oz. The most productive weeks overall were 23rd - 30th April with Craig McEvoy's group yet again. They caught an amazing 47 Carp. 1-60's, 3-50's, 8-40's, 29-30's, 6-20's, with an average weight of 36lb. Also 30th April - 7th May with Lee Beavan's group. They caught another amazing 45 Carp. 1-60, 3-50's, 17-40's, 23-30's and 1-20, with an average weight of 44lb. Total Carp caught for 2011 was a little lower than last year at 583, but to be expected on conditions. Still a phenomenal year with yet again fantastic averages. Weights caught .6-60's, 15-50's, 155-40's, 319-30's, 88-20's With an average weight of 38lb. Chris, Baz and Colin would like to say heartfelt thanks, and best wishes for a great 2012 for all.

5 of our regular anglers from Leicester and 1 regular from Liverpool joined us on our last week of the Season, and it proved to be another excessively hard week for our guys, even though it cooled down at nights, it still got to an amazing 30+ degrees during the day. Still a good few lumps though produced at intervals between periods of nothing. The last night prevented two of our guys from blanking. Our anglers banked 8 - 40's, 17 - 30's and no 20's. It was a hard but very productive week. The carp seemed to switch off again early in the week straight after last week's great catches. All but one angler achieved his 40, but he still had late 30's which is not to be sniffed at. The weather warmed up again with some rain later on - now getting quite cold at night. Then on Wednesday night, a much welcomed thunderstorm with rain most of the night cooling everything down and producing 7 catches, with another 7 catches again the following night. Staying cooler for the rest of the week caused the carp to carry on feeding well, producing the rest of the catches. No anglers fishing this week due to Baz having to do some urgent work during the day. He did manage to fish for 3 nights with a couple of friends and they caught:--- 37lb 8oz, 36lb 8oz Common and a 35lb 5oz.... The rain has finally started, thank goodness, although again predicted to be hotting up a lot next week. - Hope the rain lasts long enough to cool the water right down, and lead to some serious fishing.
